The Lions Of Shrewsbury - 8
This is one of 4 lions that stand at the base of the Lord Hill Column (a future posting). It is 133 feet tall and completed in 1816. There are steps to the top of the structure. I asked if it was possible to go up them, but the receptionist in the council office said that it was closed for health & safety reasons. A great shame, as the views are meant to be quite spectacular.

Those guardians of the nation's health and safety - more like surety against liability claims!
Thanks for your visit. What majestic lion!
I am glad I found this blog via Paris Daily Photo. Fine blog, there are some great photo, and I am happy to discover the town via your blog (I still have to create a blog roll on mine !). Congratulations, Loic

This is beautiful! I have really enjoyed your lion photos!
Don't you just tire of the health & safety excuse. Or the other one is security. How did we ever live before?
He's a very find lion.
You are the Lion King! (sorry, I couldn't resist)
